Sam Sheppard is a professional Open Water swimmer with a passion for getting the public involved in ocean swimming. As well as competing in many open water events around the world, Sam has been a regular on the Victorian ocean swim circuit since his youth.  Sam is excited to bring his knowledge and experience in ocean swimming to help create a new event for swimmers to participate in and enjoy!

Community Service

Sam has been a volunteer life-saver for more than 10 years in Victoria and on the Gold Coast

Sam has previously been on the Open Water Committee at Swimming Victoria, as well as providing athlete feedback on open water courses and conditions for State events 

Professional career

Sam is currently a Hydrogeologist at
Ventia Pty Ltd, focusing on contaminated land, remediation, ground and surface water interaction, as well as environmental monitoring

Sporting Career 

Australian Swim Team Member | number 763

Sam came 6th in the 25 km Open Water race at the Fina World Championships | 2015

Sam is a multiple Australian national medallist and champion in surf life saving and open water swimming
